Membership FAQs

To be eligible for GEO membership, your organization must be one of the following: 

  • A grantmaking institution, such as a foundation, a corporate giving program, a government funder, a United Way or a venture philanthropy organization. 
  • An infrastructure group, such as a philanthropy serving organization, that serves grantmakers as its primary members. 
  • An academic program at an accredited institution where philanthropy is the primary focus of your research or coursework.

GEO members and funders join GEO as a way to support an agenda of shared change and to participate in transforming philanthropic culture and practice.   

Members have access to specific perks designed to deepen engagement and maximize member participation, such as early conference registration, priority entry for program participation and advance access to publications. 

Joining GEO shows that you know that none of us have the answers on our own but that collectively we have the power to transform philanthropy to support thriving communities.

Membership rates are based on annual grantmaking budgets.
