Increasingly, foundations are interested in working with those with lived expertise to learn about issues, shape strategy, and achieve better results together. However, funders interested in applying such approaches may not always be clear where to start, or on how staff members in various roles can support this type of work.
During this session we will dive into, Fostering Participatory Learning Approaches in Philanthropy: A Guide for the Curious, a resource developed by Engage R+D to explore how foundation leaders in various roles—including executive leadership, program officers, evaluation and learning officers, and operations staff—can foster power sharing and community engagement in philanthropy through participatory learning and evaluation efforts.
Participants will:
- Learn about a new tool to support foundation staff in various roles to foster participatory learning
- Understand how participatory learning approaches can support power sharing and joint decision making
- Reflect on how to get started or continue your work in participatory learning
- Share and network with other foundation staff with similar goals
