GEO membership is open to:
- Grantmakers that make monetary grants (foundations, corporate giving programs, government funders, United Ways, venture philanthropy organizations);
- Infrastructure groups that serve funders as their primary members (affinity groups and regional associations); and
- Individual philanthropists who make annual grants of more than $10,000.
All staff members within a member organization may receive their own username and password to access GEO resources.
Become a GEO member, and:
LEARN
Find resources in GEO’s online database of more than 2,000 catalogued organizational effectiveness articles, reports, surveys and resources, as well as information and links to related organizations.
Participate in intensive action learning sessions (additional fee, currently open only to GEO members).
Share resources and knowledge with colleagues, through the "Share a Document", feature on the Web site to advance the discourse on organizational effectiveness.
Receive our practical and concise electronic newsletter, IMPACT.
NETWORK
- Find and post organizational effectiveness events online through the Share an Event section of the Web site.
- Share ideas and questions with other GEO members through our vital listserv.
- Search for other members by location, organization and area of expertise.
- Connect and collaborate with other grantmakers and support organizations.
GROW
- Receive discounts and priority registration to GEO-sponsored events, such as our national conference and smaller topical meetings.
- Discuss the latest concepts and practices in philanthropy with leaders in the field.
- Take advantage of member discounts on publications and services such as the Center for Effective Philanthropy’s Grantee Perception Report and GrantCraft’s tools for effective grantmaking.

Exceptions:
- Community Foundation dues are based on unrestricted assets.
- Operating Foundation dues are based on their annual operating budgets.
- Service Grantmakers’ dues are based on the total value of their annual service grants.
